Over-The-Phone and Video Remote Interpreting

Over-the-Phone Interpretation (OPI) is a professional service conducted via a three-way call, where an interpreter facilitates communication between two parties speaking different languages. The interpreter can be physically present in the same location as the client or operate remotely from another location.

Remote Simultaneous Interpretation and On-Site Interpretation

Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) is a form of sign language interpretation that enables individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing to communicate with hearing individuals at the same location via videoconferencing, rather than relying on in-person, on-site interpreters. VRI is particularly beneficial when qualified interpreters are unavailable, such as in rural areas, or when immediate interpretation is required, and no on-site interpreter is present.

Remote Simultaneous Interpretation (RSI) is the next generation of simultaneous interpretation, where all participants, including interpreters, receive live video and audio feeds virtually. RSI allows interpreters, speakers, and participants to connect remotely from anywhere in the world and communicate in their preferred language. To use RSI, all that is needed is a computer or mobile device, a headset, and an internet connection to join virtual events.

Pre-Scheduled Assignments

Clients can request prescheduled interpretation sessions for languages marked as ‘preschedule recommended,’ extended sessions lasting over 1.5 hours, or sessions with specific requirements. Preparation is a significant part of an interpreter’s work. Being a language expert does not mean one can instantly discuss any topic using specialized terminology. It’s important to remember that what may seem obvious to you as an expert in your field could be entirely unfamiliar to someone else.

Interpretation

Translators transfer meaning from a text written in the source language to the target language.

  • Meaning Transfer: The message from Language A (source language) must be accurately conveyed in Language B (target language).
  • Written Text: Translation focuses on written language, whereas interpretation deals with spoken language. The two are often confused.
  • Source Language: The language being translated from.
  • Target Language: The language being translated into.

Remote Simultaneous Interpretation (RSI) is the next evolution of simultaneous interpretation, enabling interpreters, participants, and speakers to connect virtually via live video and audio feeds. RSI allows communication from any location worldwide, enabling everyone to interact in their own language. All that is needed to use RSI is a computer or mobile device, a headset, and an internet connection to join online events.
